Scope of Service Experience

In his more than 30-year career in the commercial real estate and banking industries, William J. Murray has proven time and time again that he possesses the qualities clients can depend on to make the best possible investment decisions. Through years of involvement with clients with diverse and challenging requirements, Mr. Murray has become adept at providing advisory services in all corporate real estate and real estate lending arenas. His meticulous approach to data analysis, creative problem-solving skills and insight into potential alternatives gives clients the tools they need to make realistic assessments of their needs.

 

 

Education

Mr. Murray earned his bachelor of arts degree in business administrative and fi nance from Carroll

College, Helena, Montana, and attended the University of Montana Law School in Missoula.

 

 

Background & Experience

As a partner in H-M Financial Services, Inc., Mr. Murray has provided consulting and advisory services to an international clientelle. Due diligence performed for the purchaser of an $81 billion commercial bank in Seoul, South Korea, including financial analysis, credit analysis and loan grading for the largest bank in that country. He prepared market feasibility and tax issue studies related to the 650-acre Gateway redevelopment area in Salt Lake City, and provided loan grading and risk analysis fi r the real estate portfolio of a $600 million savings bank. Other assignments included a complex facilities master plan for the $30 million real estate investment portfolio of a quasi-public mental health agency, and provision of expert witness testimony in five separate real estate and environmental cases.

 

Prior to forming H-M Financial Services, Mr. Murray served as senior vice president of Wallace Associates Consulting Group, where high points of his tenure included his appointment as chief operating offi cer of the $3.5 billion Midwest Savings Association. In that role, he performed loan due diligence for $1.8 billion in commercial real estate and loans and assisted in developing marketing strategies for their sale. He regularly provided commercial real estate lending and

disposition expertise for the leading fi nancial institution clients and regulatory agencies, as well as developing and implementing management and lending policies. 

 

Mr. Murray’s relationship with lenders from throughout the world originated during his 17-year career in the commercial banking industry. As senior vice president of First Interstate Bank of Utah, he acted as chief lender and manager of the commercial banking department and was responsible for a commercial loan portfolio of $600 million. Under his management, the bank’s real estate loan volume increased by 70% over a six year period to $200 million. He also served as vice president of Western Savings & Loan Co., where he was responsible for the origination and sale of $40 million in real estate residential mortgage loans annually.
